Grace Lake Ministries, Inc.

OUR MISSION is to provide Christian horsemanship programs to people with disabilities, “at risk” youth, and their families.    OUR MINISTRY is a God-Centered Therapeutic Riding program. Our goal is to facilitate the development of wholeness into the lives of the people that we serve. We believe that wholeness begins by knowing and following Jesus Christ.  We strive to provide an atmosphere of people with heart’s purified by God through which He can work to bring hope and healing to those in need. We trust in God to lead us down the path that each individual needs to reach their full potential. Only God understands each person’s needs and how to meet them.   OUR RIDERS include anyone in need of hope and healing. This includes children and adults, people with disabilities and people without disabilities, youth with obvious social problems, and youth without obvious social problems.

OUR CLASSES include an instructor and sometimes volunteers working with a rider or group of riders in an enclosed arena, open field or barn area for any of several purposes. The rider may learn special riding skills, care of the horse, or how to saddle a horse. The rider may play games on horseback, maneuver through an obstacle course, or challenge their skills with a trail ride. Each rider or family will have specific goals to work toward. Each class begins with prayer. Classes are 45 minutes one time per week and are grouped together in Spring, Summer, and Fall sessions.
OUR COST vary based on the families ability to pay, the class size, and the length of the session. Scholarships are available. Please contact Holly for more information.
OUR PROGRAM adheres to the high safety standards of the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) and is a NARHA Center Member. Grace Lake is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization made possible through people and organizations willing to give tax deductible donations.

Melissa Youth Onstage

Melissa Youth OnSTAGE was founded in 2011 to serve the students of Melissa Texas.  Its mission is to provide students in the area with a program that provides low cost, high quality performing opportunities. MYO traces itself back to 2009 when founders Doug Valentine and Karen Rose did the first musical ever at McKillop Elementary school. The turnout was so tremendous that the pair decided that there was a true need for a community theatre group for youth. After leaving the school system in 2011 they started MYO with the hopes the interest would still be there. The support was outstanding and the group performed a variety show to get things kicked off right.  Since that time MYO has produced 6 shows, 4 tours, 5 variety themed shows, and produced 2 cd’s.  The group is open to students in the Melissa area grades 2-10.

MYO is a 501 (c) 3 organization and accepts donations and sponsorships. There are no paid staff at MYO and students are expected to help take responsibility for their learing and efforts.  MYO is a student centered group dedicated to forming a community of performers. Just as important as the performing aspect is the creation of confident, positive kids who love what they do. MYO chooses their performers first and then the shows to fit the group’s makeup later. This provides students with a better opportunity to learn and grow as performers.

The Sanctuary

Full Gospel Fellowship Church.

The year was 2007. After 22 years of on-the-road evangelistic ministry, Bishop Tommy Drumm and family were preparing to preach at a grand opening celebration of what was supposed to be their next stage in life: pastoring a local congregation in a flourishing community. Two hours before that celebration, life did change, but in a very unexpected way.

While dressing for the nights events, Bishop Drumm began experiencing a headache. He mentioned it to his wife, Karen, and then passed out. Once in the emergency room, they found out he had a bleed on the brain. Within a week’s time Bishop Drumm went through two brain surgeries; once the second surgery took place, the doctors presented the family with no hope. It was announced that the accomplished singer, piano player, song writer and preacher would be a vegetable for the rest of his life. He would never walk, talk, or sing again. The family chose to approach the situation, however, very differently. Instead of mourning the loss of who they knew as husband and father, they chose to stand in faith, knowing that God had other plans – because He had called them to a local pastorate. God had called them to love people, help families, and make a difference in their community. Determination had set in and they were going to fight for his life – through prayer and faith, they stood knowing that God was going to perform a miracle. Perform, he did – what happened next has astounded doctors.

Bishop Drumm woke up. He began talking about heaven and the things he saw and felt. He began to slowly gain his life back. Eventually he was able to go through physical therapy to learn how to walk and talk again. His progression was astonishing; and for five years the Drumms watched the miracle they believed for, unfold before their very eyes. Today, the only testament to this journey is a scar on the scalp and boxes full of medical records. Yet the Drumms will never be the same again.

God has changed their lives and now they are ready to use their experiences to minister to others. At 10:30 a.m. March 3, and 7:00 p.m  March 6-8, 2013, we invite you to join us in the Grand Opening celebration of The Sanctuary, located at 3522 Sam Rayburn Highway in Melissa (the vitamin shop).  The Sanctuary has a multi-cultural, multi-generational body of believers that offer “REAL healing for REAL hurts; REAL answers to REAL problems; and a REAL God for REAL people.” We long to impact the Melissa community and surrounding areas through family restoration; seeing lives changed, broken people healed, and wounded hearts mended.  The Sanctuary is a safe place to learn, to love, and to live freely. A place that knows firsthand – with God, ALL things are possible.
